A total distance of 1566km was ridden for this challenge, raising £407 for the Rainbow Club. Thank you to everyone who took part by putting in some miles along the Cowes to Newport cycle route.
The Rainbow club supports children with disabilities and special needs and their families. It is now in its 10th year. They hold regular family meets, baby and toddler sessions and sports sessions for all children with a disability or special needs. Families of children with special needs have many stresses and difficulties thrust at them. The Rainbow Club offers advice and support, providing a shoulder to lean on in the tough times.
They are raising funds for a permanent base in which to hold their meetings and events. This will also be able to accommodate other organisations that support disabled children, bringing support and services together under one roof. There are many areas on the mainland that have this kind of facility, but nothing on the Island.
