Newport to Island Harbour

This route starts on quiet streets and a tarmacked cycle path until you reach Seaclose Park which can get gravelly and muddy in winter. From here, you join the Medina Greenway, an off-road cycle path with an unsealed surface, which takes you all the way to Island Harbour. The path is a bit narrow in places, and popular with dog walkers so you may have to be patient at times. 

Just before you reach Island Harbour, you come to the boardwalk which opens onto the river. Here you will see the once magnificent ‘Ryde Queen’ paddle steamer. As you enter Island Harbour, the Breeze Café and Restaurant is set in the middle of the site just up from the cycle path exit. Check out the boats moored in the harbour; you might also see the impressive lock in operation, and look out for the original Spice Bus from the 1997 Spice Girls movie ‘Spice World’.
