Yarmouth to Freshwater
This route follows the disused Yarmouth – Freshwater railway track. There’s still evidence of the old railway, with Off The Rails café/restaurant and Wight Cycle Hire positioned on the former railway platform in Yarmouth. This offers great opportunity to stop for a bit of lunch or even hire an e-bike! (Note: advance booking required). From here you will get stunning views of the Yar Estuary and you will be rewarded at the end of your ride with the beautiful cliffs and clear water at Freshwater Bay.
The majority of the route along a well-surfaced cycle track which runs parallel to the eastern bank of the Yar Estuary. The final loop which passes Freshwater Bay follows mostly quiet roads with a 1km slightly downhill section on Afton Road/A3055.
